UHURU FEST 2022 – It is no news that afrobeats is fast getting recognition on the global stage at an exponential rate, from global music charts, to stately music festivals and local radio stations, Afrobeats music can be heard echoing and leading big catalytic conversations in the entertainment industry worldwide. However one genre that is also running up right alongside afrobeats music is the Amapiano & Afrohouse genres of music; Having huge and cult-like followings from similar fans in the House music and EDM space, Afrohouse and Amapiano brings a novel experience the game, it is that sweet spot that creates massive appeal and demand from both the House/EDM community and the Afro community.

With a lot of festivals now coming back to life after a very long and quiet pandemic year, one festival set to make its debut on June 11, 2022 is the Uhuru Fest; bringing all Afrobeats, Afrohouse and Amapiano genre together on one mega 1,200 capacity yacht. According to the organizers, The Uhuru Fest – Yacht Cruise edition is an immersion of the sounds out of Africa featuring amapiano superstar Focalistic, south African celebrity DJs, Caiiro & Kasango, Ghananian and Nigerian Los Angeles based DJs Blaq pages & Tomi Tribe and host of other well known music DJs in southern California.

This year debut yacht festival edition will kick off its flagship event in San diego; “San diego is popularly known for yacht music festivals and parties, and being a tourist state that borders Mexico with about a 30 mins drive, a beautiful made-in-heaven coastline and amazing weather, it was a no brainer for the organizers to decide that san diego should be the host of this years debut edition” Ayo Oshodi, one of the co-curator of the event stated, further adding “Also san diego has a very huge music community but has very little experience in the afro music space, this is why we have taken the initiative to grow that community and experience out here, the response for this event has been very positive, the feedback and anticipation is really exciting and we are ready to give everyone a great time!!!”.

Uhuru Fest promises a full day experience of afro inspired music, dance and happiness.
